Riddle Joker: Chisaki's Story

 Riddle Joker: Chisaki's Story

This post is a continuation of the Visual Novel Riddle Joker. In this particular blog, we will be going over Chisaki's story and focus on the relationship between Satoru and Chisaki. Chisaki's story isn't available from the beginning only after you complete one playthrough can you unlock her route. If you are interested in the overall review or Mayu's Story refer to the links listed here:

I highly recommend checking out both of the previous blog posts especially the main overview so you can better understand the pretense of this Visual Novel. I found that this particular ending and path to be shorter than the others. While I'm not overly happy that they shortened her ending I personally think that her ending was a last-minute choice.

Chisaki is a year younger than Satou and is best friends with his sister. She is energetic, devoted, mischievous, and very fashion-oriented. There are several instances where Satou and others take her advice when it comes to what to wear, including when they choose their swimsuits for the Tech Fair. Unlike the majority of others, though Chisaki does not have any powers to speak of, she is just your ordinary human. It is this fact however that makes her somewhat of an oddity in the school.

Whereas many that come to the school are Astrals seeking asylum for one reason or another the others that are not Astrals are all researchers dedicated to the advancement of Astral understanding and creating technology that replicates Astrals Powers. So for her to be in the school came off as odd to Satoru, but later she explains that she wanted to better understand Astrals and if they were as dangerous as people made them out to be.

It is during their time helping with school projects and with one another personal matters that a set of events leads to them becoming closer. A set of unusual events caused by an Astral assaulting women came close to home when a fellow student at the academy was assaulted on her way back from the hospital. This led Chisaki into wanting to find the person responsible for this and bring them to justice. It was at this time that Satou was given the order from his superior to find the Astral and to put a stop to his actions.

During an afternoon out while returning home, they find the man responsible, and Chisaki attempts to confront him but Satoru realizing that his Astral power was a form of Telekinesis was able to save her before the Astral was able to hurt her. In the process, he became injured himself but he was able to catch the guy. It was during this that Satoru realized he had feelings for Chisaki and vice versa.

Their relationship grows quickly and they soon find themselves in a romantic relationship that is approved of by both their friends and his sister. As time goes by Chisaki realizes that Satoru isn't just the average student that he tries to act like he is. In reality, she knows something is different about him but after talking with him she comes to the conclusion that she is fine with whatever he does.

He doesn't tell her what he does, and he hates not being able to tell her something, anything for that matter about his job and what it is he does for a living. And yet she tells him that as long as he continues to come home safe she will not ask anything about his job. It leaves an uneasy feeling for Satoru but he accepts her answer and the two's relationship continues on with the ending coming shortly after with the two spendings some time with one another at the academy pool.

As I said, her story was way shorter than that of the others and I feel like they rushed through her storyline for some reason but overall it was still a well-rounded story that helped progress the character development along. Of course, this ending is unlocked after finishing any of the other girl's paths.
