Siscon Sister of the Week

This weeks Siscon Sister of the Week is  Mizuha Kiryu of the hit anime Hensuki: Are you willing to fall in love with a pervert, as long as she's a cutie?, and yes that is the full title. It was written by Tomo Hanama and started out as a Light Novel before becoming a Manga. Soon after Funimation picked it up and created the anime.

The anime has 12 episodes and sadly at the time of this post has not been renewed yet for a new season. However, recently there has been a great push in the industry to go back and fill second seasons of many anime that were put to the side for new anime to take place. It is expected that this anime may see a second season but it may not be for a few more years.

The story follows Keiki Kiryu, which for all intensive purposes is an ordinary high school student with nothing that really stands out. That said he's not a slacker or anything, he's average in sports and classwork so he's no hero type at least.

One day when helping to clean out one of the club rooms he finds a letter that has his name on it and with it is a pair of panties. So starts the fun drive to find who it was that confessed to him and left him her panties.

As the story progresses there are three girls that he believes to be 'Cinderella' as he and his friend has dubbed her and each has their own unique fetishes. And funny as it is as the anime goes the girls find themselves falling for Keiki and in a way he starts his own Harem...without really wanting to or knowing he did.

As the anime progresses a fourth girl is added to the mix though he at first thought there was no way she would have been on of the candidates for 'Cinderella'. That is of course his sister Mizuha.

Mizuha is a cute, sweet, and innocent girl that doesn't make waves in the slightest. She seems almost fragile and tends to be a bit more submissive, though she can assert herself if need be. She is very close to Keiki and adores him greatly. While she is the last on the list she is never fully removed even though Keiki thinks its not possible.

While I don't want to ruin the anime for those that might want to watch it, I do highly recommend this anime as it is full of comedy and the things that happen to poor Keiki is funny to see. Despite its obvious undertones it isn't as bad as one might think...at least its not a Hentai anyways.

If you have the time and Funimation (or Crunchy Roll as they bought out Funimation) you can catch this anime on there. You can also purchase it from a place called, 'The Right Stuff' used to be 'Right Stuff International' which is an store dedicated to Manga, Anime, and much much more.

Koikari -Love for Hire- Soraji Tsubaki

Of all the girls that are in Koikari, I think my personal favorite is Tsubaki's. Now that isn't to say that I don't enjoy the others in fact there is one that I would say is close to Tsubaki's however it is a secret ending so I won't be discussing it in this post. While I do find the others to be pretty good as well I personally feel that Tsubaki's arch is one of the better written one's and ends in a pretty good way that makes you feel like the story is truly complete.

Of course saying that Tsubaki is a girl isn't correct, of the other romantic interests of this Visual Novel she is the oldest of them and in fact she is a teacher that instructs at a prep school, the same school that the protag Yuki attends.

Tsubaki becomes one of Yuki's clients and pays him to act as her paramour in an attempt to get her cousin and mother off her back about settling down. To keep this story going Yuki will spend time at Tsubaki's house when she knows her cousin will be around and later they go shopping to get some things that will make it appear that Yuki actually stays there at her place to throw her cousin off.

It is during their time together that Tsubaki soon becomes aware of Yuki's other clients including the Izumi sisters, Emi, and Hasumi. While she understands that Yuki is simply doing a job there are instances where she does seem almost upset at the fact that he's with other girls his own age while being her paramour.

As time passes and they spend more time together Yuki ends up taking her back to his house which is only a building jump away to spend time with his little sister who isn't aware of his second job, and even if she was aware of it she probably wouldn't approve of it. So in his sisters mind he's two timing Emi and Hasumi as she believes Yuki to be dating Emi and keeping Hasumi on the side as well. Of course she then meets Tsubaki and things get even more complicated and more hilarious as his sister complex put to the test after she thinks poorly of his life choices.

Tsubaki's romantic route is one of the first ones that become available. During a festival Tsubaki has helped you out by spending time with you and your sister. When you get the festival grounds you meet up with the Izumi twins and spend time together as a group. Eventually however, Tsubaki walks a way in a little bit of a huff after feeling like she was getting the short end of the stick so to speak. Though it wasn't Yuki's intentions to make her feel that way it did happen and Yuki realizes his feelings for Tsubaki and follows after her.

It is at the fireworks festival that they share their first kiss and the discussion of being more than just paramour begins though they still are not ready for that kind of relationship. It will take time and several other incidents before they came come to terms with the feelings they have for one another.

It is shortly after that Tsubaki comes to the conclusion that she doesn't want Yuki to continue his work through the App that linked him to the other girls. And he the through the course of a period of time breaks off his arrangements with each of the girls while maintaining a friendship with them.

Tsubaki's route ends with Yuki eventually graduating and starting university. Soon after he and Tsubaki are married and they talk about how they have a child on the way. The ending is short and sweet and wraps this route up nicely.

Unlike some endings I feel this one does a good job of ending it on a high note and one that leaves the player fulfilled. So if older women are your thing then Tsubaki's route is the one you'll want to go down first. Honestly, I have a type like everyone does but I found Tsubaki's interests, attitude, and overall character development to be will done and one that I could see myself with so I related to her more so than the others.

By the Grace of the Gods

By the Grace of the Gods

It has been a while since I have done a blog post on an Anime and not a game or Visual Novel. But I decided that this anime deserved a mention for a couple of different reasons. This anime is currently still being published in Dubbed format on Funimation. At the time of this blog, there are 7 episodes that are out Dubbed with a full 12 episodes out that are subbed.

By the Grace of the Gods is about a man living on earth named Ryoma that one day dies in a freak accident of sorts and comes face to face with three Gods. To some extent, this anime is an iseki but it doesn't follow the normal troupes of one, which actually is a breath of fresh air to some extent all unto its own.

Ryoma is a 31-year-old office worker that works for a very exploitive corporation that works all their employees like slaves. Because of this, he is used to pulling all-nighters, working days, and nights on end before ever being allowed to return home. From what little the story has shown of his past thus far he was apparently abused and beaten as a child and as a young adult, he was also abused by multiple bosses. Because of all this, he spent years building up his body to the point that he is very physically able.

In the realm of the Gods the three Deities, Lulutia the Goddess of Healing and Love, Kufo the God of Life, and Gain The God of Creation all speak with Ryoma and explain to him that he was chosen to act as a transfer from the realm of earth to another world where he will be able to live the life he wants to live. With that stated he will be sent to the new world in the form of an 8yo boy. He is told that he will be able to wield magic and so he decides he wants to wield all types of magic, this makes him a jack of all trades but a master of none.

Upon getting to the new world he opens a book left to him by the Gods and through a small scene, he learns "Taming" Magic which allows him to obtain his first of many familiars, a Slime.

Ryoma using what he learns from the book provided to him and what he learns on his own whims is able to establish himself a small home in the woodlands of a forest away from other people. He spends 3 years by himself in his self made home which brings him to be 11yo. During his time out in the forests, he is able to learn a great deal of new magic as well as to capture many more slimes that he then begins to learn and make notes about.

He later finds out that it was Gain that created the slimes and that he had created them with the ability to adapt to any environment meaning the evolution of slime was endless, however, due to the limited environments they soon stopped evolving and a few types were all there were.

These were the basic slime that had no special ability to speak of. The Acid Slimes which could dissolve anything and eat through metal, the Poison slime which through eating poison plants took on their characteristics, the Sticky Slime which used a sticky substance created in their body to trap their foes and then eat them. Later he is also able to obtain a couple of Healer slimes that have the ability to heal other people and creatures.

It is also brought to his attention later that through his own vices that Ryoma has actually created two new types of slimes, a Scavenger Slime which eats excrement and other forms of waste and produces fertilizer, and a Cleaner Slime which seems to possess the ability to clean dirt and grime off anything including Goblin Grime which is the hardest thing to get rid of apparently. He studies slimes on a regular basis and keeps a large working force of slimes numbering almost 4k in slimes.

One day while Ryoma is out doing some routine hunting and gathering for his home he runs into a group of soldiers. One is wounded pretty bad and the others are debating how to get him back to town in time to help him. Overhearing them he hears that one of them is a mage and knows healing magic but due to being low on mana he's not able to cast the needed spell to heal their wounded friend. Ryoma shows himself to the soldiers where he explains to them that he has some medicine he will give them for their wounded friend.

This interaction leads to Ryoma meeting the family of one of the knights that also happens to be the Duke of the territory that Ryoma resides in. It is here that he is introduced to who I can only assume is to be his 'primary' love interest (unless they follow the example JK Rowlins used and then I think there may be fires in the streets).

Eliaria is the daughter of Duke Reinhart Jamil. She is also a gifted tamer like all of the Jamil family. She is the same age as Ryoma (11yo) and follows her father and mother into the forest along with the knights and the former Duke Reinback to meet and speak with Ryoma. It is during this first meeting that Eliaria asks Ryoka about the slimes he has under his command as well as about the two new slimes. She was taken out into the forests to find her first familiar which she has chosen to be a slime. When she asks Ryoma how to catch a Cleaner Slime he is taken aback as he really doesn't want to answer that. I won't spoil the funny part but needless to say, it is an interesting thing to see.

Eliaria becomes Ryoma's closes friend, she has a great deal of mana and magic ability but lacks the ability to control it, because of this Ryoma helps teach her how to master her own magic through simply playing around with it and learning to control it through better understanding what it is she wants to use it for. Eliaria is in line to be a noble of the Jamil family and therefore she is taught magic, politics, diplomacy, economics, and of course fighting.

There is a great deal more that could be talked about but I think it's better to let you watch it for yourself. That said there is one thing I want to cover. And that is the controversy that is associated with this anime. Now based on what you have heard I am sure you realize this anime isn't adult-oriented or even rated above a PG13 like rating. However like most things now, it has become a topic for discussion over the matter of Ryoma's character and past life.

As stated on Earth Ryoma was a 31yo man, however, in the new world, he is an 11yo boy. When the obvious best girl presented to him is the same age as him in the new world (ie. 11yo) there are some that feel this is either borderline or 100% pedo territory. While I can at the very least kind of see where these people are coming from let me make this clear, there is nothing of the sort like that. We need to remember that both are the same age in the new world, also we need to think of it this way. If you are 90 and you get sent back to a time when you are 14, would you go looking for another 80yo to be with? I highly doubt that.

All in all this anime is a must-watch and while not really adult-oriented it is one that I think you will still find fun and interesting.

Evenicle (Updated Post)

Evenicle

I think this is my first Updated Review, so congrats to me for finally doing a follow-up review of a game that I initially made a simple review of based on about 2 hours of gameplay. The few hours I played left me with a good impression of the game overall and sadly due to Real Life things and other reviews needing to be done I had to wait longer to actually get into the meat of the game.

Well after around 70 hours played...I still have not made it to the end but I am close. So I decided that the first review that I have done in a LONG while, I would do an Updated Review on the game called Evenicle.

Evenicle is a mix of a classic-style RPG with a Visual Novel. It offers the best of both worlds allowing you to travel freely and fight monsters and bad guys to gain money and experience all along going along a pretty well thought out storyline.

I enjoy the graphics even if they are considered dated, I think they really complement this game well and would actually enjoy seeing more games like this one as far as how the graphics are done both with regards to the RPG and the Visual Novel aspects. The music is well done but I think more tracks could be added that would make it sound more interesting. Honestly recently I have turned the BG music off and listen to my music while playing, especially when grinding levels.

In the RPG fashion, this game does have some moments where you will most likely want to take some time out and level up and grind EXP. I know some people find this to be a bit annoying and while I normally agree, I find that this is actually not as bad as you may think. You actually gain EXP pretty well, there are items and skills you can obtain that help increase the amount of EXP you can gain per battle as well.

Wife Kathryn

You can enter towns to rest at Inn's restoring your HP, visit the Church for some cutscenes, and maybe a quest. Visit the Store to buy items and weapons and armors as you need, and in some towns, a special shop is sat up where you can sell items and treasures to earn money. You will also find the EXP shop where you can turn your EXP in and gain a level...that's right you don't do it automatically.

The story revolves around your main character 'Aster' as he prefers to be called who decides to become a Knight in order to marry both of his sisters. Before you get the wrong idea, they are not really his sisters. They helped raise him in a way so he just calls them his sisters. In the realm of Evenicle you can have only one wife unless you become a Knight and earn higher ranks then it increases the number of wives you can have.

Upon getting to the mainland you begin your journey to becoming a Knight for the nation of Eden. During your trials and tribulations, you run into a 'Lone Knight' Ramius and a Mage named Richie. Later both of these women will become your wives as you are established as a Knight.

As the story progresses you will rank up by completing the several chapters of the game. The ultimate goal is to reach the title, 'Zero Knight' which is the most powerful knight in the Kingdom. There is also a special rank that is bestowed only by the Church referred to as, 'Holy Knight'.

Wife Towa

Now I won't give too much away of the story but let's just say as you journey will meet many different women and several of them will become your wives. There are a couple of wives that will not be in your party to fight, but instead, they do other things like take care of the family home and so on.

I am pretty sure I went over the majority of that in my last review, but now that you are currently on the basics of the game, we will talk about those things that I didn't talk a lot about in the first review.

As I may have also stated in my last review, there are some instances that may cause some people to get a wee bit squeamish. The majority of that revolving around the concept of 'rape'. Now I do not advocate rape obviously but as a form of context, especially in 'dark fantasy' games and novels, I just accept it as part of the genera.

In my first review, I discussed slightly the one instance that I saw that dealt with the concept of rape. At that time I thought that would be the only instance of such...I was wrong. I can remember around 5 or more of such instances where the discussion of, the act of, or the insinuation of the act of rape occurred.

Now there is an option to turn that off in the Settings at the start of the game so my advice is that if you are not comfortable with the aspect of using such actions in media such as games like this, I would recommend turning it off.

Wife Gurigura

I also want to go on record as to say that after many hours in the game that you will be subject to several other things you may or may not be able to agree with. Multiple wives, lesbianism, many instances of sexual deviant acts, MANY SEX SCENES, and crude humor. This game is NOT for children and I would advise not to play it in the presence of a child UNLESS you are simply running around the field and fighting to level up.

If you however keep an open mind and enjoy RPG's with some Visual Novel aspects...or maybe a Visual Novel with RPG aspects, I would highly recommend this game still. The key is to keep an open mind though.

That said I would like to point out the picture of 'wife Gurigura' I know what you are thinking...and I alas can only say, keep an open mind my friends...keep an open mind.

Golden Time

Golden Time

Golden Time Review

Golden Time is an anime I recently found on my new HiDive streaming service. I decided that I needed to broaden my horizon when it came to anime and get away from my niche of Isaki. So this one sounded a bit interesting and at the time of this review, I have not actually finished the series time though I do plan on it at some point soon.

Golden Time is based on a unique story plot that will definitely resonate with some people and may put off others but not for what you may think. The story focuses on the protag of Banri Tada. Banri just moved from his small hometown out in the country to join a Law School in the city. When the anime starts he meets a fellow freshman named Mitsuo when both appear to have gotten lost while looking for their primary school building.

Banri and Mitsuo hit it off pretty quick and establish a quick friendship of sorts. It is also during this time you are introduced to a primary character named Kaga Kouko. She is apparent wanna be girlfriend and lover of Mitsuo even though he clearly doesn't want to be anywhere near her.

The anime progress with you finding out that Mitsuo and Kouko have a long history together and that she is a bit obsessive and she is loaded and rich. She of course uses this to influence her transfer from a pristine University to be with Mitsuo at Law School. This, of course, creates quite a bit of drama and Banri hangs on for the ride of his life with his newfound friends that also include a young man they call '2D' a girl named Oka and another girl named Linda. Later a special anime character from another hit series makes a guest appearance and plays a pretty major role in the anime itself which is an interesting thing to see.

As time goes by there is a lot of drama that leads up to a big explosion of feelings that throw this group of people into a bit of a chaotic moment. That is when Mitsuo flat out confronts Kouko about her behavior and tells her he can't be with her and doesn't have any feelings for her and in fact, he has fallen for another girl (Oka). A heartbroken Kouko eventually cheers up with the help of Banri and eventually the two fall in love and start dating.

Now before you think that is the end of this tale...you also need to know a bit more of the backstory. Banri Tada on the last day of High school is involved in an accident that takes away all his memories. It is as if his soul and body are separated and he can't remember anything, friends, loved ones, his parents, nothing.

As the anime progresses, certain events and discussions with Linda bring more and more memories back, and he begins to remember certain things. After going home and finding a picture in his room of Linda and him, he confronts her and finds out that prior to his accident he had strong feelings for her.

In several episodes, it shows a ghostly Banri watching his 'body' create new memories and fall for Kouko even though his soul still loves Linda. As the anime begins to reach midway events lead to some serious moments between Linda and Banri that lead to some interesting drama between Banri and Kouko.

Now as I have stated I have not at this time finished the series and when I do I will update this blog post. However, at this time the anime is a good one. It is well crafted both with music, audio, and artwork. I also enjoy the unique perspective presented by the difference between the 'soul' of Banri Tada and his 'body'. It is a unique perspective to think that when one loses his memories that is liken to losing his soul. The trials and tribulations that Banri endures are aspiring at a certain level it also reminds us that the bonds we make are not easily broken or cast aside. Even though he has no memory of certain things from his past he has the 'feeling' of what Linda meant to him and at moments his 'soul' finds ways to connect to him and to Linda.

Citrus

Citrus

Review

Citrus is an anime export of a manga that caught wide acclaim in Japan based on its concept and overall presence in both character development and story criteria. The story has also gained a great deal of traction in the West including the US which has opened a wider presence to this anime and others that share similar ideas like this one.

Currently, there is only 1 season out on Funimation, there has already been discussion of another season in production but a release date hasn't been announced at the time of this post. This anime like many of the 'slice of life' genre has a diehard cult following and while I do not fall within that category I am a fan of this anime and not just because of the matter that it deals with. I enjoy the character development and the story plotlines even if they throw way too many curveballs for my liking, but I guess that is one of the many things that make this anime that good.

The story surrounding this is that a high school girl named Yuzu is what many would call a 'upity' and high price girl liking the bling, the freedom of fashion, and pushing the rules of the normal high school mentality. Her mother recently remarries a man and they move to his place and she ends up attending a new school. She's the outcast here because the school is big on conformity and she refuses to do that. She ends up making enemies with the Student Council President Mei. Mei later turns out to be the daughter of the man that Yuzu's mother has married, meaning they are stepsisters. This turn of events leaves Yuzu sour and hating how things are going...or at least for a short while that is.

Eventually, things get turned up and upside down all at the same time when Mei catches Yuzu off guard and kisses her. This leads to a slew of new thoughts and perspectives for Yuzu to figure out. As the series progress, the two begin what can only be called an on and off again romantic relationship complicated with teen feelings that as we all know can cause more problems than good. Not only is there the whole 'lesbian' thing going on between them but they are also stepsisters.

In season 1 things end as you would expect with a type of cliff hanger that makes you wish season 2 was done out. That said for those that are into Manga I believe that you can read all of them including what will be used for Season 2 on a Manga site called Bookwalker which has the entire series along with hundreds if not thousands of other Manga and Light Novels. If reading is more your thing this may be the best place to go and if you decide to leave some feedback mention you heard about Bookwalker on this blog!

Through the series, Yuzu has to accept that she has feelings for Mei even though Mei is for the most part cold and repressive of her own feelings as she has a hard time dealing with her own thoughts and feelings. This leads Yuzu to a great deal of heartbreak and wonders if Mei was just using her to get some kicks or if there was something between more than just being stepsisters. While this isn't very clear from the ending of the first season I would think it is safe to say that based on my watching of other anime in this slice of life genera I can say I believe that this will end well...but that said there are anime that catches me off guard and by surprise and tends to end a different way than many of us would have thought.

So I do highly recommend this anime. If for nothing else the story and character development and the rollercoaster ride that teen slice of life school drama can bring especially when it involves two stepsisters. Just remember if you have a problem with this kind of genera just repeat after me...no chromo!

Goblin Slayer

Goblin Slayer

Review

Goblin Slayer, in a nutshell, is a Dark Fantasy anime that takes place in a time much like the middle ages where adventures and take on jobs and doing quests for merchants, aristocrats, townsfolk and anyone willing to pay them for their services. This could be simple transport missions, find an object mission, clear a cave or route mission or even a kill mission on a particular monster.

There are many of these adventure guilds and they obtain their job from the local towns Guild Hall. One such adventure has been given a nickname because he only accepts jobs where he is able to kill Goblins, hence the nickname the 'Goblin Slayer'. He never shows his face and keeps his helm on at all times along with his armor. He comes to the guildhall and picks up any and every quest he can find that deals with Goblins and then goes seeks them out to exterminate them.

There are many new adventures that believe that Goblins are mindless and can be easy prey for noobies. But the reality is that Goblins are not as dumb or unorganized as many think and this has led to the deaths of many new adventures.

The Anime starts the first episode which is also the most controversial one of the whole series by beginning showing a small group of would-be adventures entering a cave to participate in a small hunting quest of killing some Goblins. The problem is, of course, they believe that these Goblins are of course unorganized and think it will be an easy mission that will earn them plenty of gold and guild points towards becoming a higher rank within the Guild Hall. The party is made up of your usual type of people, a Warrior type, a Rogue type, a Magic type, a Cleric type, and a secondary warrior. Soon after entering the cave they begin to realize just how much of a mistake they have made.

I don't want to ruin the story or what exactly happens but I must say that there is a lot of blood, gore, and in the end, one of the females are taken by the Goblins for actions that I will let you think about and on. The surviving member of the part and uncaptured girl which is the Cleric begins to run but knows it is a matter of time before she too is captured. However, she is soon saved by the Goblin Slayer and he begins to explain to her how they will survive and how they will save the remaining girl that was captured and so on. Years of hunting Goblins has taught him many things and he uses each thing he learns to ensure his own survival and the death of the Goblins.

Once they return to the Guild Hall and things calm down the young Cleric joins him in a permanent party and she begins to learn more about him, his past, why he slays Goblins and begins to learn how she can help him in his plan to eliminate every Goblin in the land. As time passes others join the party each with their own unique idea and thoughts and characteristics but each one that joins has heard of the "Goblin Slayer" who is known in Elven as another name...and yet another name in Dwarfen. All the races know of him and as the dark forces gather and they summon more and more Goblins in their ranks they will seek him out and rely on him to kill all the Goblins he can.

The Goblin Slayer anime is currently slated to have a second season that dives more into the development of the main character which his story is touched on lightly in the first season as far as to why he does what he does and what drives him. However as is the thing with most of these anime there are several love interests that are trying to persuade him to be with them, despite the fact that he has no apparent desire to really take an interest in the females that are vying for his affection. The young Cleric, his long time friend who he lives with her and her father, the Elf girl and the head receptionist at the Guild Hall. With all these young maidens going for him he continues to be oblivious to their actions while focusing on slaying every Goblin he comes across.

I am looking forward to the 2nd season of this anime and hope that it will continue the arch that was laid out in the first season while adding some new plots and twists that I think this anime would greatly benefit from.

I want everyone to know that this anime is Adult Rated due to blood, gore, language, adult content, sexual situations, sexual images, and a few others. If you are under the age of 18 you shouldn't watch this anime. If you do so you are liable for your own actions.

Domestic Girlfriend

Domestic Girlfriend

Domestic Girlfriend is a current anime title that caused a slight uproar over the fact that as one content creator put it, "its a dumpster fire and train wreck all in one...and it's one that you will want to watch." With that in mind, I decided to set down and watch it to see what could be so bad that it was...good?

Well, it is exactly what it is...a dumpster fire that you're drawn too like a moth to a flame only to realize your about to become the victim of a train wreck that you later end up enjoying as hard as that is to believe. This anime is very spicy and takes on some subject matter that isn't as unique as some would think, but it's in your face approach is something that many do not do. That said it is tastefully done and the character development aspect is extremely well done. By the end of the season (as we are all very hopeful there will be a second season), you will find yourself enjoying the anime and in the words of Herbert the Pervert, "I want more...".

Domestic Girlfriend is about Natsuo (the protagonist) that is about as clueless as they come when it comes to girls, relationships, and reading between the lines. He is what you expect from many anime's anymore with the main character usually unable to put simple equations together and yet SOMEHOW they are able to garnish the attention of so many adoring hotties. To be honest I would have killed for it to be that way back when I was in school just saying.

Natsuo is a single child that lives with his father who is a single parent and attends a high school where he excels in literature and aspires to become a famous writer of books. During his time at school, he has fallen hard for his teacher, a woman named Hina. He has a taboo crush on her and wishes more than anything that they could be together.

Within the first episode, you find that Natsu has several friends that ask him to go with them to a high school mixer, (I didn't realize that was a thing) where students from different high schools and classes will get together and hang out and maybe spark up some romance. During this particular mixer, he is introduced to a quiet and antisocial like girl named Rui. During the mixer, Rui and Natsuo speak to one another away from the rest of the group and they decide to leave the mixer together.

What happens next starts the rollercoaster ride and is the first building block in the house of cards that is Domestic Girlfriend it is the match that lights the dumpster fire and begins to draw you in. The girl Rui takes Natsu back to her house where there is no one there and proceeds to convince him that they should take each other's virginity, no strings attached just do it to be doing it. Of course, Natsuo agrees and within the first 10mins of the 1st episode, we have our first action.

After that he leaves and heads home where things get moving along fast...as if someone watching the dumpster fire said, "lets put some gas on it" and they did. His father tells him he has met someone and has been dating her for a while and that he has decided it is time for him to get remarried. Natsuo, of course, is indifferent to this as he is happy that his father is happy. Natsuo is told that he will be meeting the woman soon as well as her two daughters. Of course when the woman shows up Natsuo's father introduces them and he admits that she seems nice and kind and is happy to see how his father acts around her. Then she introduces her two daughters...and this is where the comedy and action again begins. Her oldest daughter is none other than Hina (the school teacher he has a crush on) and her youngest daughter is, of course, Rui (the girl that he has already deflowered within this same episode mind you.) And so begins a wild ride.

Natsuo the protagonist is an introvert high school student that has a dream of becoming a writer. He has a friend that he spends a great deal of time with and relies on his advice to help him with the issues and feelings he has for Hina. He is your picture protag in these animes as he is a bit on the shy and timid side. He over analyses some things and doesn't analyze others, he misses social cues and can be a bit over-reactive. He does have some pretty problematic personality flaws but despite all that, his character development is one of the most well done I've seen. Over the course of the anime, he has his share of highs, lows, and moments of complete mental and emotional breakdowns.

He ends up becoming the stepbrother to Hina and Rui and despite that, he still actively seeks to be much more than that to Hina. Much like the movie series Twilight seen the creation of two camps of who people wanted to see the main star get with, there are two camps in the anime and manga communities that are divided between Hina and Rui.

Hina is the teacher that Natsuo has a crush on and loves more than anything. She also is his stepsister. She is older than he is by a few years and has only recently become a teacher after college. She is young and vibrant and has some habits of drinking a lot and having meetups with a mysterious man from time to time. Though she calls him her boyfriend the guy in question has a secret of his own and one that later Natsuo and Rui calls both Hina and him out on.

Hina is outgoing, openminded, smart, and pretty. She knows all these things and takes full advantage of them. She of course through the course of the anime figures out that Natsuo has a major crush on her and that over time she finds that she herself has taken a great deal of liking to him. Of course, through the course of this, there are different times where she attempts to rationalize these feelings and puts them into a perspective that is both accurate and yet seemingly void of emotion.

During an outing with just Hina and Natsuo, they find themselves at a beach where she walks out into the water and Natsuo follows her when they are out a little she poses a series of questions and thoughts about their relationship and how they could be more than they are now. At one point during this conversation, she asks him if he would commit suicide with her because the love they share and the relationship that he wats with her is taboo and would cause both of them and their family a great deal of dishonor.

I won't spoil this storyline but let's just say you will need to hang on for the wild ride between Hina and Natsuo.

Rui is an introvert much like Natsuo and speaks very little to others. She has a hard time in public and is socially awkward which Natsuo takes quick note of and spends time working with her to make her more socially acceptable and to have some friends. She is also the girl that took Natsuo's virginity and lost hers to him. She is also now his stepsister as well due to her mother marrying Natsuo's father.

Her and Hina have always been close and after they moved in with Natsuo and his assistance with helping her in school she eventually begins to realize that she has feelings for Natsuo and at first it scares her. Overtime however she realizes and finds out that he has a deep love for Hina and she offers her advice and help to him even though it conflicts with how she feels.

Eventually, she has to deal with the fact she is falling in love with Natsuo and that he also has feelings for her but that his feelings for Hina are stronger and in a sad twisted way unintentionally he strings Rui along and she accepts it. She, of course, feels conflicted by all the happenings at home, in school, and with Hina.

After some time and different happenings, Rui gives the affection and attention to Natsuo that he needs and she lives in a balancing act of trying to be a supportive sister and a supporting lover.

While Natsuo is in school he befriends a girl called Momo. The girl Momo has a reputation for being the 'easy' girl and tends to have more than one boyfriend in a short period of time. She ends up setting her sights on Natsuo and through Rui (who she befriends) makes it known to Rui that she is wanting to hook up with Natsuo. Natsuo of course at first is taken back by this development but decides that he would at least entertain the idea of them having a friendship...and maybe one with benefits.

That said however during an episode in which Momo invites Natsuo to her house she sets up the moment giving him the chance to do whatever he wants to her. She is ready and willing to give herself to him, but Natsuo notices something and he realizes all too suddenly what is really going on.

As to not destroy this arch I will say that Natsuo realizes that the reason for why Momo acts the way she does is because of the lack of any love at home. Because of that, she seeks love in other places...mostly in the bed of other men. He calls her out on it in a nice and meaningful way that impacts her and she begins to let that side of her go and instead seeks to become a better person thanks to the inspiration of Natsuo.

When Natsuo talks to a teacher about writing he finds out that the school has an unofficial Lit Club that is ran by a single girl named Miu. Clubs are required to have a minimum of 3 members before becoming official. The teacher who is also a well known and published writer himself makes a deal with Natsuo. He will read all the works that Natsuo submits and take him under his wing so long as he joins the Lit Club and help Miu.

Natsuo, of course, jumps at this chance and through chance, Natsuo gets Momo and Rui to join the Lit Club with him. He also gets another student and friend that he meets to join as well which gives the Lit Club more than enough members to become an official club. Because of this the teacher that is the sponsor of the Lit Club honors his end of the bargain and begins helping Natsuo with his writings.

Miu is a shy, introverted girl that is extremely smart but lacks social skills. (Which is a major theme of this anime and manga.) She is a good writer and has won the amateur status in writing circles. She also has a secret that Natsuo finds out about and one that like Natsuo can't be exactly talked about openly. But she finds in Natsuo a valued friend and companion that shares the love of writing and of forbidden love as well.

This anime has more twists and turns than a maze and more ups and downs than a rollercoaster and I promise you that you will be on an emotional rollercoaster where you can't help but feel for the characters and their situation. Despite the odd situation that they are in and how it is seen by today's society, the idea is that this anime brings to light some serious difference in how society sees love and the relationships of people and how people view those same things.

The anime is a must-watch and despite the emotional rollercoaster, there are plenty of comedic scenes other characters that play a big role in developing each of these main characters that I didn't mention and of course there is the part of the story that I have not told you that will leave you at the edge of your setting asking for more. Yes, that's right this dumpster fire is going from a single match and some paper to a blaze created by 5 gallons of gasoline and a road flare.
