Review: Senren Banka

SenRen Banka is a visual novel developed by Yuzusoft and published by NekoNyan. You can get it either from the Steam Game store or from NekoNyan's storefront. There is an 18+ patch that you can also purchase with this game for the obvious H-Scenes and none pixelated artwork.

SenRen Banka puts you as the protag named Arichi Masaomi, a city kid who has been forced to help his grandfather with the family Inn out in the mountainside of a small town called Hoori. The inn is a big-time tourist attraction during certain times of the year and because of that they are needing help, with that in mind our protag arrives in time to get ready to help with after the end of a special event in town.

The festival is one that draws in large amounts of people from around Japan and the world due to an attraction of a sword named Murasamemaru that has been logged into a rock for centuries and every year they hold a lottery and allow so many to attempt to remove it from the stone. In all the times that Masaomi has visited he's never once tried so his grandfather waits until every else has tried and then makes the arrangements with the other town elders to let him give it a shot.

He tries to remove the sword only for the blade to break. Nothing has happened like this before and with that one incident, Masaomi has turned his life upside down. Now his life is filled with training with the newly restored Murasamemaru and his grandfather to slay cursed spirits while protecting the Shrine Maiden all the while trying to go to school and deal with the usual Highschool life of love, girls, and life.

This particular VN has multiple endings based on one of the protag's love interests. Currently, I have only played through one of the romance characters so it may take me a bit to get through all 5 to 6 of them. I say possibly 6 because the way they have a path shown it may end up involving two girls at once...which I'm fine with. But of the main romance characters, I see 4.

The VN's graphics are pretty well done and on par with NekoPara and other titles by NekoNyan, it's the soundtrack is also very well done and one that has quite a few tracks but each track really pulls the story together. The story is well written with a few moments of embellishment of certain content and situations, despite that though I am not overly concerned with that aspect.

I will discuss more when I do each of the romance endings, as well as the afterstories.
