Perfect Gold The Alchemy of Happiness (Demo)
Perfect Gold is currently in development and the Alpha Demo can still be found on Steam and can be downloaded for Free. Made by Yangyang Mobile the creator of several mobile style games as well as the Visual Novel Love Esquire this is a new addition to their growing collection of Visual Novels.
The demo sadly isn't very long and doesn't give a great deal of information to the character development, backstory, or the connection between the characters. That said based on the tags that are present on Steam and the Bio of the game itself it is safe to assume the following information is most likely correct.
The story is told not from one protags view but instead from the two 'main characters' of the VN. Set in a world of magic and alchemy the two main characters are enrolled in a large prestigious school dedicated to the development of the magical and alchemical arts.
Audrey Clary is apparently the heiress to a noble and is well versed in alchemy. She appears to be a bit reserved but uses logic to get her point across even if that means she'll offend someone. She is studious to a point but despite that, she also has a bit of a 'bad girl' side that she keeps in check for the most part. At least that is what little I could catch. She also seems to be in a bit of a conflict with Marion who from what little information I have appears to be a friend (or at least was a friend) before something caused conflict.
Marion LaRue is the odd girl out. She is the daughter of a business owner who's older sister also attended the same Academy that she is now as well as a young and upcoming businesswoman in her own right. That said Marion is not her sister, she is a firebrand and seen as the problem child of the family but she is still an exceptional alchemist in her own right. She is headstrong, impulsive, direct, and very outspoken.
Despite her apparent attitude towards Audrey, she harbors a different feeling altogether for Audrey and that becomes apparent slightly in the demo.
The description as seen on the Steam page gives a great deal more insight into the kind of game this is and it can all be summed up as a WLW (women who love women) a heartwarming, slice of life story between two girls as they get a second chance at love and friendship. It is also tagged with the LGBTQ+ tag. This game, like Love Esquire, is voiced in English and uses the same vibrant visual technique that really made LE a big success. It will also have interactive dialogue and currently states it will have two endings only.
The story will be told from both the perspectives of the main characters to get a better sense of the world around them as well as their feelings for one another. While this is labeled as a slice of life which I can agree with I would also think adding the label 'love story' would be better to some extent.
I am excited to see how this VN turns out so soon as it is released I will be getting it and doing a full review on it, so stay tuned.
