Lo-Ca-Lo-Ve My Cute Roommate

 Lo-Ca-Lo-Ve My Cute Roommate

Lo-Ca-Lo-Ve My Cute Roommate is a cute somewhat short straightforward VN that has no options or choices to be made. Normally I am not a huge fan of these as I feel it takes out a lot of the fun of the Visual Novel, however, this one and one other one that I did a review for a while back are some that I have actually enjoyed. The story is a nice change of pace from what I am used to which is not a bad thing in the slightest.

At the time of this blog, I have not come across any information that leads me to believe that there is any Downloadable Content that adds H-Scenes which is kind of sad. That said though there is a chance that could be added later. Despite that, there are still several suggestive themes and moments that still push this into the 18+ format.

The story focuses on the protagonist named Ichitaro who is a high school student living on his own in a small simple apartment that is close to his school. Not only does he go to school but he also has a part-time job at a bakery. Ichitaro is a second-year student and I'd say he's average at best in school.

During his time at the bakery, he meets a first-year named Hiwa who is also a part-timer that attends the same school as Ichitaro does. She is somewhat shy but is good at handling customers and is quite nice and bright. Ichitaro takes an interest in her but due to her shy nature and some strange facial expressions, he tends to think she doesn't really like him all that much.

One day on his way home to his apartment after school he sees that the apartment complex is on fire. With the majority of the complex damaged by fire and water, he is left with thinking of where he is going to be staying at. Despite his somewhat depressing situation he manages to make it to work and works his shift. As he is leaving and wondering what he's going to do Hiwa catches up to him and after a discussion as to what happened, she asks him to come to stay at her place.

Over the course of several days and several somewhat funny interactions with one another both at Hiwa's apartment and at school the two finally realize that there is something going on between them. Eventually, Ichitaro and Hiwa confess to one another and become a couple. Soon after the are officially a couple the younger siblings come to Hiwa's place and find Ichitaro there, this small happening comes into play later.

Soon after a few weeks go by Ichitaro's apartment has been repaired and is ready to move back into. However, now that they have lived with one another long enough he's finding it hard to want to go to his own apartment. But all good relationships have some small and big bumps along the way.

Hiwa's father through her siblings finds out that Hiwa has had Ichitaro living with her, which is seen as a bad thing in Japan. Because of this he pays Hiwa a visit and finds Ichitaro there as well. What happens next is a series of sorted events that leads to a nice moment of interpersonal reflection and personal growth.

Towards the end of the VN things do turn out for the best and the two remain together for what I can only believe is a very long time and probably end up married...though this is all speculative as there is no after story.

All in all, I found this VN to be quiet well laid out, and the artwork was done well. Music was ok, not the best but not the worse either. The story I think followed the two main characters pretty well though it did bring in a couple of other characters very little is known about them. From what I can gather though, the temple priests daughter kind of had a thing for Ichitaro but not much was said about this. There is also a classmate of Ichitaro's that has a small part in the VN that I can only assume also had a small liking to Ichitaro.

While I understand the want to keep things simple and the story fluid, while remaining on the main characters of the story I think if you are going to add secondary characters like they did and have them play some sort of central role then some more information is needed for their own character development.

Despite that though I think this would be a good VN to cut your teeth on if you are new to VN's and are looking for something that you can read straight through without having to make choices.
